According to the information, on the section from the intersection of Kurmanjan Datka and Alisher Navoi streets to Asrankulov Street, over 200 seedlings of coniferous trees are being dug up and transported to the nursery of the municipal landscaping enterprise. According to the Osh city administration, the transplantation is being carried out with roots during the winter period.
“We plan to transplant these seedlings to our nursery, where we will take care of them. During the winter, deciduous trees are in a dormant state, which makes this period ideal for transplanting with roots. In the future, we will replant them in suitable places for the city. Meanwhile, the maples and acacias that were previously planted here will remain in their places,” the department reported.
In the future, if a decision is made to plant more valuable seedlings, their procurement from neighboring countries is planned. Currently, negotiations are underway with sponsors on this issue.
It is worth recalling that in early 2025, long-standing chinar trees and other trees were cut down on Kurmanjan Datka Street. In March of the same year, 100 seedlings of red-leaved maples were planted on the section from Alisher Navoi to Gapar Aitieva Street, with each costing $215.
Six months later, on September 25, 2025, at the XIV session of the Osh City Council, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev noted the need to transplant the seedlings planted on Kurmanjan Datka Street. He pointed out that the red-leaved maples are suffering from the heat emanating from the sidewalks, which leads to their leaves drying out.
“Red-leaved maples were planted on Kurmanjan Datka Street. However, this type of tree generally prefers moist places. Due to the heat from the sidewalks, the leaves are drying out. If you allow, we will transplant the firs and maples from this street to another location,” the mayor added.
It is noteworthy that the mayor participated in the planting of trees and assured journalists that the seedlings were delivered with a root ball and would “take root 100 percent.” He also mentioned that he had planted maples in Jalal-Abad, emphasizing that this type is suitable for the climate of the city of Osh.
