In the city of Osh, a building that was previously used as a kindergarten for 280 children has once again become municipal property and is currently undergoing major repairs.

According to the city hall, kindergarten No. 18 in this area was closed 32 years ago. An inspection revealed that in 1998, the property was transferred to private hands in violation of the law.

On January 8, Osh Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev visited the site to assess the progress of the major repairs. “This building has long been a state kindergarten. For 30–40 years, it changed hands and was used for various purposes — it housed a university, a school, and even a barracks. We filed a lawsuit, won the case, and are now conducting a complete renovation at the expense of the budget. This will be a kindergarten for 280 children,” the mayor noted.
He also pointed out that there are no other kindergartens in the area from Kokum-Biy Street to the village of Kenesh, which forces parents to take their children to institutions located in the central part of the city.

Currently, the roof is being replaced, interior finishing work is underway, and playgrounds are being constructed. The completion of the work and the commissioning of the facility are scheduled for January 25.
