On Alymbek Datka Street in the city of Osh, about 500 trees have been cut down, as reported by the press service of the city hall.
According to local authorities, work is currently underway to remove trees that have fallen into poor condition, along with the renovation of irrigation ditches.
The director of the municipal enterprise "Greening and Landscaping of the City of Osh," Azamat Sovetbek uulu, noted that approximately 500 trees have been cut down.
“The cutting took place on the section from Orozbek Akimbaev Street (where the A. Suymbaev Stadium is located) to the Babur Theater,” he added.
The removal of trees affected both the side of the irrigation canal and the roadway, including areas near the S. Ibraimov Dramatic Theater and the "Osh Nuru" hotel, explained Sovetbek uulu.
He also reported that last year the ecology department granted permission to cut down emergency and old trees. The Osh city council approved the cutting down of another 1,870 trees on the section from Vakhapov Street to Alisher Navoi Street.
