In the Malachite Hall of the National Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Maldybaev, a concert was held featuring the new D-274 model piano from the renowned manufacturer Steinway & Sons. This event took place on December 31, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture.

The piano was acquired on December 15, and Minister of Culture Mirbek Mambetaliev noted in an interview with AKIpress that its cost is 25 million soms.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov, Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Mirbek Mambetaliev, Theater Director Muratbek Begaliev, as well as representatives from the arts and culture sector.

The ministry emphasized that the issue of replacing pianos in the theater had not been addressed since the 1980s-1990s.

“There are about twenty well-known manufacturers of concert pianos in the world. However, 94% of pianists performing with symphony orchestras choose Steinway instruments,” the press release stated.

Tenders are also currently being held for the procurement of modern sound and lighting equipment for the theater.
