Deputy of the BGC from the "Emgek" party, Mirgul Rasul kyzy, noted that last year the possibility of transferring education funding in Bishkek from the local budget to the republican budget was discussed. The deadline for implementing this decision was set for July 2025.
“However, a final decision has not yet been made. This year, 10 billion 827 million soms were allocated from the local budget for education, which could have been used for the benefit of the city. What are the current steps for implementing this decision?” she asked.
First Deputy Mayor Mirlan Baigonchokov explained that the issue concerns the transfer of funding for salaries in the education sector. “As of today, according to the approved plan, the republican budget for 2026 includes an amount of 5.9 billion soms as part of targeted transfers. The first payments have already begun, and 436 million soms have been allocated for payment. The remaining expenses will remain with the local authorities,” added the first deputy mayor.
