A project to improve air quality is being implemented in Bishkek and the Chui region.

On February 2, 2026, a meeting took place in Bishkek to discuss issues related to improving air quality in the country. The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mederbek Mashiev, and Deputy Minister Asel Raimkulova met with representatives of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). This information was disseminated by the ministry's press service.

According to reports, during the discussion, a project aimed at improving air quality in Bishkek and the Chui region from 2026 to 2028 was thoroughly reviewed. This project will be implemented with the support of the government of the Republic of Korea, which will provide grant assistance of up to 10 million US dollars.

The main objectives of the project include reducing emissions of pollutants, creating a comprehensive air quality management plan, and implementing environmentally friendly heating systems in public educational institutions.
