In 2026, 100 million soms will be allocated for greening in the city of Osh.

This information was announced by Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev on February 5 during a meeting with residents of the Manas-Ata district.

He reported on the results of the work from the previous year, emphasizing that many trees are in poor condition and need to be replaced.

“Some trees are very old. Our bloggers and sisters are asking the question: ‘You are cutting down trees, but why aren’t you planting new ones in their place?’. We have indeed planted new ones, and they were expensive species. A tree doesn’t grow instantly like a child; it takes time. 95% of the planted trees have taken root,” the mayor explained.

This year, 100 million soms have been allocated from the city budget for the removal of old poplars, junipers, and other trees, which will be replaced with new ones, Toktorbaev reported.

He also noted that along the road to the airport, there are trees that are 70-80 years old.

“Starting from March 1, we will completely remove the old trees in the middle of the road. Instead, modern and expensive roses will be planted, and the area will be improved. The installation of LED screens and a large stele is planned, which will give everything a modern look,” he added.

According to the city administration, the greening work will be carried out in stages, taking into account environmental safety standards.

It was previously reported that expensive seedlings brought from Italy are planned to be planted in the territory of the municipal management "Sulaiman-Too" in Osh. Each seedling costs between 140 to 150 dollars.

In March 2025, 100 seedlings of red-leaved maple and blue spruces were planted in Osh, with prices ranging from 200 to 250 dollars each. However, not all red-leaved maple seedlings took root.
