As part of the administrative-territorial reform, 49 billion soms will be allocated for the development of the districts annexed to Bishkek. This was announced at a meeting of the permanent commission of the capital's council, which took place today.

According to government representatives, the funding for the program is planned for the period from 2026 to 2030.

“We have outlined the necessary amount, but this does not mean that we have it available already. Part of the funds will be allocated from the local budget, part from the republican budget, and we can also seek assistance from funds. It is important to first identify the problems,” said one of the officials from the city hall at the meeting.

Deputy Kazybek Ergeshov inquired whether these plans are merely dreams.

“No, we have a clear understanding of our needs. If we have a plan, we will implement it,” replied the city hall representative.

The deputy also noted the need to pay attention to the condition of sewage networks, water pipes, poor roads, and other pressing issues.

It was previously reported that in 2024, eight rural districts (23 villages) from the Alamudun and Sokuluk districts will be annexed to the capital. All new territories will receive the status of municipal territorial administrations (MTA). As a result of the administrative reform, the area of Bishkek has increased more than threefold—from 12.9 thousand hectares to 38.6 thousand hectares.
