In Bishkek, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev emphasized the need to implement the principle of micro-zones to enhance safety and the quality of education in schools. He made this statement during a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to Junushaliev, overcrowding in educational institutions and issues with territorial zoning are serious challenges today.

“Every child should have the opportunity to choose one of 5-6 nearest schools and attend it. It is important to develop rules according to which students, starting from 1st to 6th or 1st to 9th grade, must attend educational institutions located in their micro-zone. Exceptions should only be made for children who require specialized education,” he noted.

“The safety of children is a priority. Moreover, this will help reduce the load on the roads. Parents and students should not create traffic jams on the way to school. At certain times, Bishkek literally comes to a standstill in anticipation. Therefore, we need to systematically address this issue,” the mayor added.
