On February 11, at a meeting of the Bishkek City Council's commission on municipal property, land management, urban planning, and architecture, the chief engineer of the municipal enterprise "City Road Transport Infrastructure," Ulan Kurmanbekov, announced an increase in rental fees for markets.

He noted that this decision was made with the aim of further developing the market and as a result of negotiations.

According to him, the rent at the "Dordoy" market has increased by 40%, while the "Alkan-bazars" have raised their fees by 20%.

A deputy expressed outrage, pointing out that the owners of the "Oberon" market had previously planned to reduce the rental fee by 5%, while the city administration chose the path of increasing it. He emphasized that such changes should be analyzed by the Antimonopoly Development Service.

The deputy called for a review of these decisions, stating, "This cannot be done."
