As reported by representatives of the Traffic Safety Department of the Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, starting from February 12, the air temperature has significantly dropped, and dense fog has caused a deterioration in visibility. This adverse impact has led to the following problems:
- critical reduction in visibility – fog on the highways has reduced visibility to dangerous levels.
- formation of ice – conditions have arisen on the roads for the formation of severe ice, which creates difficulties for vehicle movement.
- severe frosts – the temperature continues to drop sharply.
To avoid traffic accidents and ensure the safety of citizens, a temporary restriction for freight transport has been established at the Ötmäk pass on the Bishkek—Talas highway.
Law enforcement agencies and emergency services strongly urge drivers to be especially attentive and strictly adhere to traffic rules in difficult weather conditions.
