No money - go serve, if you have - go have fun. The Jogorku Kenesh approved an increase in payment for alternative service

What will be the consequences for the low-income?

On February 12, the Jogorku Kenesh adopted in the first reading a bill that proposes an increase in payment for alternative service in Kyrgyzstan.

The initiative "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts (to the Code on Non-Tax Revenues, the Code on Offenses, the Law on the Universal Military Duty of Citizens, on Military and Alternative Services)" was put forward by the Ministry of Defense. The document implies a significant increase in fees related to the mobilization reserve and alternative service.

In particular, the proposed changes are as follows:

- mobilization reserve fees will increase to 75,000 soms (currently 50,000 soms);

- fees for training reserve officers will amount to 90,000 soms (instead of 70,000 soms);

- the fee for alternative service due to family circumstances will increase to 25,000 soms (was 18,000 soms);

- alternative service for health reasons will cost 50,000 soms (instead of the previously set 25,000 soms);

- the cost of alternative service for religious reasons will also be 50,000 soms (instead of 25,000 soms);

- enrollment in the second category reserve will cost 50,000 soms (currently 25,000 soms);

- the fine for violations of military registration rules will be 10,000 soms (currently 1,000 soms).

The developers of the bill noted that the increase in expenses is due to economic growth and inflation in the country.
