The Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan presented an initiative to increase fees for undergoing mobilization reserve and alternative service.
In particular, the draft law proposes to change the amount of fees for citizens called up for mobilization reserve training from 500 calculated indicators (50,000 soms) to 750 calculated indicators (75,000 soms). It is also planned to increase the payment for the reserve officer training program from 70,000 to 90,000 soms.
Regarding alternative service, it is proposed to increase the fees from 18,000 soms for citizens called up due to family circumstances to 25,000 soms. For those with health restrictions, the amount will rise from 25,000 to 50,000 soms. A similar increase is also provided for citizens registered in religious organizations that do not permit the use of weapons.
The draft law also stipulates an increase in the amount for enrollment in the second category reserve for citizens over 25 years old who have not completed military or alternative service and have not expressed a desire to undergo mobilization reserve training. Currently, this amount is 25,000 soms, and it is proposed to raise it to 50,000 soms.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense intends to increase the fine for violating military registration rules by military personnel and conscripts from 10 calculated indicators (1,000 soms) to 100 calculated indicators (10,000 soms).
The justification for the draft law states that the current calculated indicators were established in 2017, and the proposed changes are aimed at correction in light of current economic growth and inflation levels.
