The Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan shared information on how funds received from alternative service are being used. During a meeting of the parliamentary budget committee, First Deputy Minister Talaybek Sharshiev answered questions from deputies.

According to him, in 2024, 714 million soms were received from alternative service. These funds are directed towards improving service conditions, repairing barracks, and modernizing the material and technical base of military facilities.

Also on the committee's agenda was a draft law proposing an increase in contributions for alternative service.

Deputy Dastan Bekeshev previously expressed his opposition to this initiative.

Previous reports indicated that for citizens called to alternative service due to family circumstances, the amount is 18,000 soms, while for those with health restrictions, it is 25,000 soms. The new draft law proposes to set new amounts at 25,000 and 50,000 soms, respectively. Additionally, for citizens registered in a religious organization that prohibits the use of weapons and service in the Armed Forces, the payment is planned to be increased from 25,000 to 50,000 soms.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the current rates were introduced in 2017, and the new payment amounts are planned to be reviewed in light of current economic conditions and inflation.
