In Bishkek, on February 12, an extended meeting was held at the General Prosecutor's Office dedicated to issues of combating cybercrime and the spread of narcotic substances among youth.
According to the main supervisory authority, the meeting thoroughly examined the most common schemes of internet fraud, as well as facts of drug use and distribution among children. Topics discussed included telephone and messenger fraud, hacking of social media accounts, schemes promising high profits with minimal risks, and the use of the internet for the sale and consumption of drugs.
Special attention was also paid to measures to counter cybercrime in the context of active digitalization, as well as the need to improve cooperation between government agencies and the private sector for more effective combat against cyber threats.
The General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic urges citizens to be cautious when communicating with strangers on the internet, not to disclose personal data, passwords, and bank card information, to avoid transferring bank cards and information to third parties, and not to click on suspicious links. Citizens are recommended to inform their relatives about the risks of cybercrime and ways to protect themselves from fraudsters.
At the first signs of fraud, it is important to immediately contact law enforcement agencies to prevent further losses.
The event was attended by representatives of various government structures, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for National Security, the State Penitentiary Service, the State Financial Intelligence Service, the National Bank, as well as the Ministries of Digital Development, Education, Culture and Science, and other organizations.
