On the Umm Arak plateau, archaeologists found hundreds of rock paintings, carved images, and inscriptions spanning a time period from the Neolithic to the early Islamic period.
These rock formations, extending over 100 meters along the eastern side of the plateau, contain vibrant paintings made with red and gray pigments, depicting animals, hunting scenes, and symbolic figures. The oldest images, dating from 10,000 to 5,500 years ago, illustrate the lifestyle of early hunter-gatherers, including scenes of hunting mountain goats using bows and hunting dogs, specialists noted.
