A memorial rally was held in Bishkek for the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan















Today in Bishkek, at the Ata-Turak Park, a memorial rally was held dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

According to information provided by the city administration, the event began with the laying of flowers at the monument to internationalist soldiers.

Attending the event were Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Kulmurzaev, Defense Attaché at the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Igor Dovbnya, as well as veterans, representatives of the public, and residents of the capital.

Participants of the rally laid flowers at the monument and emphasized in their speeches that the Afghan war left an indelible mark on the lives of many families and in the history of the country.

In his speech, Mayor Aibek Junushaliev noted that February 15 is a day of memory, courage, and unity.

“We bow our heads before the feats of the fallen and express our sincere gratitude to the veterans who honorably fulfilled their military duty. The municipality will continue to support Afghan veterans, widows, and families of the deceased. Your courage and resilience are an example for future generations and an important part of our country's history,” the mayor stated.

Deputy Minister of Defense Almazbek Kulmurzaev also highlighted the importance of preserving historical memory and expressed gratitude to the veterans for their courage and loyalty to service.

The memorial rally concluded with the laying of flowers and words of gratitude to the internationalist soldiers, whose names will forever remain in the memory of the people.
