How many ethnic Kyrgyz live in Tajikistan? The ambassador's response

According to information presented at a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh, there are approximately 35,000 ethnic Kyrgyz in Tajikistan. This statement was made by the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan, Erlan Abdildaev.

During his speech, the diplomat noted the results of the embassy's work, including efforts to establish the state border and improve Kyrgyz-Tajik relations.

According to him, ethnic Kyrgyz are concentrated in the following areas:

Abdildaev also noted that the Kyrgyz community in Dushanbe was temporarily closed in 2021-2022 due to certain events, but plans are now in place for its re-registration. This issue was raised during the visit of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan to Bishkek on February 13, and the Tajik side confirmed that it will be resolved.

Furthermore, the ambassador reported on plans to build two Kyrgyz schools in Murgab and Jergital District, as well as a proposal to increase the number of students from among ethnic Kyrgyz enrolling in educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan.

Deputies positively assessed the work of the embassy as a whole.
