Doctors reported that a five-year-old patient was found to have a polyp in the sigmoid colon during an endoscopic examination, which manifested as periodic appearances of blood streaks during defecation and a tendency towards constipation.

The removal procedure was performed with minimal intervention. At the first stage, an endoscopic ligating loop Endo-Loop was used, which allowed for the safe occlusion of the polyp's blood supply and reduced the risk of bleeding during the operation. The polyp was then removed using an electrosurgical loop.

The head of the formation measured 55 × 45 mm, and the length of the stalk was 9 cm. The polyp was completely removed without any complications. After the operation, a follow-up examination was conducted, and no signs of bleeding were detected. The removed polyp was sent for histological examination.

The postoperative period went smoothly, and the patient's condition remained stable. The child was discharged in satisfactory condition, with outpatient monitoring scheduled.

Medical specialists emphasize that modern endoscopic technologies allow such interventions to be performed as safely as possible and with minimal consequences, which is especially relevant in pediatric practice.
