During severe bad weather in the Issyk-Kul region, in the village of Ananyevo, wild ducks find refuge among domesticated ones.

A hunter and naturalist, Yuri Gorbenko, passing through this village, noticed how wild mallards settled next to domestic ducks on the river that flows through the village.

“The birds were calmly feeding and resting, but as soon as the wild ducks sensed danger, they instantly took flight and disappeared. In Kyrgyzstan, mallards can be found year-round, and in winter, they mass at Lake Issyk-Kul. However, in winter weather conditions, wild ducks prefer to take shelter not on the shores of the lake, but in small non-freezing rivers,” he shared his observation.
