The construction of the first transport interchange is planned in Bishkek. This was announced by Abdyzhaparkul Janbolotov, the deputy director of the transport and infrastructure development department of the city hall. The project will be funded from the local budget and will be located at the intersection of Young Guard Boulevard and Leo Tolstoy Street.
Janbolotov noted that the project was completed last year and is now included in the title list of road construction for 2026.
“As soon as the budget and title list are approved, we will start working. Then a contractor will be selected, with whom a contract will be signed, after which construction will begin,” he explained.
In addition, another interchange is planned in the city — project work is currently being carried out at the intersection of Aitmatov Avenue and Mederov Street. According to Janbolotov, there will be a small interchange there. He also added that projects are being developed for interchanges at the intersections of Ankara and April 7 Streets, Fuchik and Leo Tolstoy Streets, as well as Jibek-Jolu and Profsoyuznaya Streets.
According to Janbolotov, the repair of about 120 km of roads is planned for 2026, as well as the construction of several bridges and 20 underground crossings.
“New streets that we plan will definitely have traffic lights and all necessary road infrastructure, including lighting,” he added.
