Of the total number of surgeries, 42 were performed as part of related transplants according to the established price list, while 37 surgeries were conducted on a free basis.
The National Hospital reports that 67 out of 79 patients (84.8%) had satisfactory function of the transplanted kidney.
However, six patients (7.6%) returned to programmed hemodialysis:
- three of them (3.8%, according to global data up to 10%) experienced acute rejection of the transplant,
- three others faced chronic post-transplant nephropathy within a year after the surgery.
Unfortunately, six patients (7%) passed away:
- five of them in the late post-transplant period due to various reasons (COVID-19, intestinal tuberculosis, cardiovascular complications);
- one patient died in the early post-transplant period from an acute myocardial infarction.
It is important to note that on February 12, 2026, the 80th budget kidney transplant surgery was performed at NCOMCH. Currently, 206 patients with stage five chronic kidney disease are waiting for a transplant.
