At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Industrial Policy, held on February 24, Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev discussed the current status of the construction project for the Kambar-Ata HPP-1.

According to him, the feasibility study has already been completed, and an environmental protection assessment has also been conducted.

Ibraev noted that the project is being implemented with the participation of three countries. Uzbekistan has already submitted its comments and proposals, while Kazakhstan is expected to do the same, after which a meeting of the working groups will be organized. The World Bank, he stated, has instructed to finalize the intergovernmental agreement by April.

The minister also mentioned that during recent negotiations in Brussels with 11 international donors, an agreement was reached to provide Kyrgyzstan with $2.6 billion.

Ibraev added that the funds will be disbursed after the agreement is signed with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
