An exhibition dedicated to the work of photographer Alimzhan Zhorobaev will take place in Bishkek.

This series of images highlights the gradual disappearance of Soviet symbols from everyday life: monuments, bas-reliefs, slogans, institutional interiors, and portraits are becoming artifacts – forgotten or reinterpreted. It is a kind of visual archaeology that explores recent history.

Against this backdrop, the symbolism of independent Kyrgyzstan, including the flag, national ornaments, and religious practices, is organically woven into the modern visual language. Traditions are not just being restored; they are becoming active participants in contemporary life.

The author's work is executed in a classic documentary style: natural light is used, with an observational position and minimal intervention. Color and black-and-white photographs coexist, representing different temporal layers.

The compositions of the exhibition are built on visual associations: windows and faces, walls and bodies, objects and symbols create recurring motifs, forming the effect of a visual poem about time and space.

In the works of Alimzhan Zhorobaev, Kyrgyzstan emerges as a space of memory, hope, loss, and change, of traditions and innovations.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until March 11.
