The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved the initiation of the process necessary for signing an agreement aimed at combating illegal content on the internet.

The draft of this document has been sent to the EAEU countries so that they can undergo the necessary domestic procedures before its signing.

The agreement will contain measures to protect intellectual property rights online. It includes mechanisms for judicial restrictions on access to illegal content, as well as obliges owners of internet resources to restrict access to such content based on court decisions. In addition, an electronic registry will be created to account for resources whose access is restricted.

The Minister for Economy and Financial Policy of the EEC, Bakyt Sultanov, noted that all EAEU states have completed the internal coordination process of the draft, which indicates readiness to sign the document.
