The parliament proposed to reconsider the regulations on the stay of foreigners in the country

The deputy noted that the current rules create significant difficulties for former citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova reported on the regulation adopted in 2023 regarding the stay of foreign citizens in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

According to this legal act, foreigners can stay in the country for no longer than one month, after which they must leave the territory, and re-entry is only possible after two months.

The deputy emphasized that such restrictions create serious problems for those who were previously citizens of Kyrgyzstan and subsequently obtained citizenship of other countries.

“Many of them have relatives in Kyrgyzstan, and the rule of ‘one month in the country and two months outside it’ leads to significant inconveniences. There are situations that require urgent return, such as illnesses of parents or other emergency circumstances, when due to the two-month entry ban, they cannot get into the country,” she added.

In light of the above, Mavlyanova proposed to amend the existing regulation so that former citizens of Kyrgyzstan have the opportunity to travel freely in and out of the country without the specified restrictions.
