As of today, approximately 200 residents of the Jalal-Abad region are in Saudi Arabia for the minor pilgrimage (Umrah). This was reported by Erik Moldokulov, the authorized representative of the muftiate for this region.

He noted that the department is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safe return of the pilgrims to their homeland.

Given the unstable political situation in the Middle East, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan has urged citizens to remain calm and not to panic. The muftiate urgently contacted the travel agencies organizing the trips to find out the status of the pilgrims. "Many are expressing concern due to the events in the Middle East. We promptly contacted the Umrah organizers and received information about our citizens. The situation in Mecca and Medina is calm right now, and about 200 of our compatriots are there," Moldokulov reported.

According to the representation, the process of returning the pilgrims has already begun. From March 1 to 3, the arrival of 80 citizens is expected. Currently, about 40 people are already heading to the airports for their flight to Kyrgyzstan.

Moldokulov also reported that the remaining pilgrims and group leaders (Umrah-bashchy) have been instructed to closely cooperate with the muftiate to promptly address any arising issues.

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan has called on everyone who is on the minor pilgrimage to remain patient and calm in light of the current events in the region.
