The message was sent directly to the president's WhatsApp
The press secretary of the president, Askhat Alagozov, responded to questions and comments that arose on social media regarding "how communication could have occurred through the president's personal number on WhatsApp." He published a video recording of the appeal from Daniel Azhiev's mother and provided a screenshot of the number from which the message was sent.
"In early January, Daniel Azhiev's mother appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a request for her son's pardon," Alagozov clarified.
