This year, the traditional march dedicated to International Women's Day on March 8 will not take place in Bishkek due to security concerns. Instead, a peaceful action is planned in Gorky Park, which will be held from 12:00 to 13:00.
Permission to hold the event was obtained from the city hall, as reported by organizing committee representative Aigul Storozhuk to the publication 24.kg.
The organizers have prepared a safety memo for all participants of the action and strongly urge them to review it in advance.
As clarified by the organizing committee, at the beginning of the event and throughout its duration, their representatives, together with police officers, will monitor the content of the participants' posters.
To participate in the action, registration on-site will be required.
The organizers also emphasized that the main goal of the action is to protect women's rights and draw public attention to important issues such as domestic violence and femicide.
