September 2024 became an important milestone for Kazakhstan when two Amur tigers arrived from the Netherlands: a male named Bogdan and a female named Kuma. The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Erlan Nysanbaev, shared information about the animals' condition, reports Tengrinews.kz.

According to Nysanbaev, both tigers are feeling great in their enclosure, and specialists are hopeful for the appearance of their offspring in the near future.

“Unfortunately, last year we were unable to document the fertilization process. However, at the beginning of this year, we once again observed signs of this process and hope for the successful breeding of the pair,” the minister noted.

Additionally, Nysanbaev reported that in the spring, four more tigers will be brought to the country from Russia.

“We plan to deliver them around the end of April or the beginning of May, and with six tigers, we will begin the restoration of the Turanian tiger population,” the minister concluded.
