The summer release of gazelles in 2025 in the Ton district steppe was successful: the animals have adapted and are doing well. This was reported by Askar Davletbakov, head of the vertebrate zoology laboratory at the Institute of Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, in an interview with 24.kg.

According to him, a total of 30 individuals were released into the wild, six of which are equipped with sensors to track their movements. Specialists conduct regular monitoring of the animals' condition.

“We observe that the gazelles have divided into four small groups. All of them are in good health, and no losses have been recorded. The ecological police constantly patrol the area, and we hold meetings with local residents, emphasizing the importance of conserving these animals,” noted Askar Davletbakov.

There are 40 individuals remaining in the enclosure, which make up the breeding stock. About 15 of them are preparing for release into the wild in the spring, depending on the success of the offspring.

It was previously reported that a zoological reserve "Gazelle Ordo" is planned to be created on the shores of Issyk-Kul, covering an area of about 18,000 hectares.

Askar Davletbakov submitted a petition for the creation of the reserve with scientific justification to the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, and the agency reported that this issue is under review.
