On March 17 in Bishkek, representatives of the political elite and activists, led by Azimbek Beknazarov, made a gesture of mourning by laying flowers at the monument to the victims of the Aksy and April events in Ala-Too Square. Prayers were also said during the event.

On March 17, 2002, a tragedy occurred in the village of Bospiek, located in the Aksy district of the Jalal-Abad region, when law enforcement officers opened fire on peaceful demonstrators. As a result of this incident, six people lost their lives.

These protests were triggered by disputes over the Kyrgyz-Chinese border agreement and the arrest of deputy Azimbek Beknazarov. These events played a significant role in the political history of Kyrgyzstan and became one of the key moments that influenced the events of 2005.
