In the village of Burana, located in the Chui region, a series of competitions dedicated to the holiday of Nooruz took place, reports Turmush correspondent.

One of the main competitions was the dismemberment of a sheep's head into more than 40 parts with an explanation of the significance of each part. Ten people participated in this contest.

According to activist Amanbol Babakulov, the participants shared knowledge about the division of the bones of the sheep's head and who receives the ears and eyes.

“The traditions of presenting the head vary by region. In Talas, it is presented to the aksakal, while in Issyk-Kul, it is given to the youngest. In general, the head is divided into 42 bones. We have held similar competitions before, but this year we decided to show how it is done in the Chui region,” he noted.

The competition for slaughtering the sheep and dismembering the head included cash prizes for the participants.
