In the Chacao area, located in the east of Caracas, a new public safety program has been launched featuring two robotic "dogs" named Turbo and Voltio. Mayor Gustavo Duque introduced these devices in March 2026, noting that they are intended to support police officers rather than replace them.

The robots, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence systems, will patrol the streets and squares, especially at night. They use high-quality cameras and motion sensors to transmit real-time information to the municipal dispatch center.

According to local authorities, the primary task of the robots is to detect suspicious activities and monitor vehicle license plates, which should assist police in their regular duties.

Chacao, which is one of the wealthiest districts in the capital, aims to become a model for "smart" policing in Latin America, making this initiative particularly significant. Caracas consists of five municipalities, and Chacao is known for its financial institutions, hotels, and shopping centers.

The launch of this system is seen as the first project of its kind in the region and part of a broader trend of integrating surveillance technologies with police work in urban spaces, where safety remains one of the key concerns for society and authorities.
