Attorney General Maksat Asanaliev announced that as of today, 386 statements regarding GKNB employees are under consideration. This became known during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to the report of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Deputy Nurbek Sydygaliev asked about the current state of affairs concerning the GKNB, including the number of detainees and the number of criminal cases initiated.
According to the Attorney General, the Military Prosecutor's Office is investigating 18 criminal cases related to corruption and abuse of power. As a result of these investigations, 9 employees have already been held accountable: 8 of them are in custody, and one is under house arrest. In addition, an investigation is underway regarding one case classified as "secret."
Asanaliev clarified that the 386 statements concern the actions of GKNB employees. Some of them have been transferred to criminal proceedings, others are under verification, and a number of requests have been denied initiation of cases.
Speaking about the legality of procedures related to the so-called "kusturization," the Attorney General noted that the seizure of property and its transfer to state authorities were carried out based on decisions from investigative bodies, the prosecutor's office, or the court with the aim of compensating for damages. The prosecutor's office monitored the legality of these actions.
He also added that a large portion of the seized property has already been transferred to the state fund, and the monetary funds are placed in deposits of investigative bodies or transferred to the Ministry of Finance.
At the same time, Asanaliev emphasized that voluntary and sponsorship contributions were not subject to the prosecutor's office's control, as they were not related to criminal cases.
Currently, investigations are also examining cases of possible illegal appropriation or use of property and funds for personal purposes. Additional investigations are ongoing regarding these facts.
