Activists and residents of Bishkek are actively discussing the need to protect the Enver Gareev Botanical Garden, raising concerns about its potential development. On social media, they are calling for the signing of a petition against the creation of football fields in this unique area.
According to residents, any interference with the garden's ecosystem will lead to the loss of valuable natural and scientific heritage that has been formed over many years.
Activists are insisting on considering other options for construction.
“The Botanical Garden is not just a park. It is an oasis of clean air, silence, and coolness, resulting from many years of work by scientists and ecologists. Football fields cannot replace the trees that help purify the air, support biodiversity, and make life in the capital more comfortable. The city is not just buildings and roads, but a complex ecosystem! The destruction of the Botanical Garden will be an irreparable loss for future generations. We demand that it be preserved in its current form and that alternative sites be sought for new sports facilities,” they state.
