According to him, there are only two botanical gardens in Kyrgyzstan: one is located in Bishkek, at the intersection of Gorky and Akhunbaev streets, and the other is in Naryn. He emphasized the significance of these places for ecology and science.
“The Botanical Garden is extremely important for the capital, as it is mentioned as such in the law on specially protected areas. Its establishment was aimed at the development of scientific research. However, we now see plans for construction on this territory. On May 11, 2022, we adopted a resolution on measures to improve the condition of the Botanical Garden. The law clearly states that this place should contribute to biodiversity,” the deputy added.
Furthermore, Bekeshev called on the president to pay attention to this issue.
Earlier, the administration of the Botanical Garden reported that the presidential administration had already begun construction of two football fields near the main entrance, along 7 April Street. In this context, it was noted that the selected area is characterized by rocky soil and a lack of water, which hinders the growth of greenery.
It is worth noting that in January 2025, the Enver Gareev Botanical Garden was granted the status of a specially protected natural area, which was approved by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev.
