At a recent public hearing dedicated to the master plan for the capital's development until 2050, residents of Bishkek proposed the creation of pedestrian zones on Moscow and Pushkin streets. In response to this initiative, the city administration published its statement.

The city administration noted that Moscow Street is an important one-way thoroughfare that plays a key role in the transport infrastructure, interacting with Toktogul Street.

According to the municipality, closing Moscow Street could negatively impact the traffic situation in the center, as it would lead to a redistribution of traffic flows and increase the load on other streets. However, the possibility of creating a pedestrian zone on Pushkin Street is being considered. This option could be implemented if additional agreements are reached and a decision is made by the city authorities, as stated in the official message.
