As part of the General Plan for the development of Bishkek until 2050, the capital's authorities plan to lay a tram line that will connect the 12th microdistrict with the central part of the city and the Osh market. This information was announced by the city hall.
According to the statement, the tram line will run along Aaly Tokombaev Avenue, starting from the 12th microdistrict and then continuing along Kyiv Street to the Osh market.
“The procedure for implementing construction activities and selecting routes will be determined in the next stages of design, including the development of a feasibility study,” the city hall added.
In addition, citizens suggested creating a tram line that circles the city.
In response, municipal representatives emphasized that the General Plan includes tram lines focused on high passenger traffic directions that connect key areas with dense residential development and the center.
Thus, the creation of a tram line around the city would not be effective for passenger transportation, the department assured.
