In response to citizens' inquiries regarding the General Plan for the capital until 2050, the Bishkek city administration shared its plans to create three new high-capacity rapid public transport systems. These are:

- urban commuter train,

- tram,

- metrobus. As part of this plan, the development of dedicated lanes for non-rail transport is also envisaged, although the specific type of transport for 2050 has not yet been determined (it could be buses, electric buses, trolleybuses, water buses, or other modern types of non-rail transport).

The city administration emphasizes that the main goal of the General Plan is to make public passenger transport more attractive to city residents. This will be achieved by creating accelerated transport systems that are separated from the general flow of cars. "If public transport can move faster than private cars and avoid traffic jams while providing a modern level of comfort, we expect that the number of people using public transport will increase, while the share of those who prefer private cars will decrease," the city administration added.
