During an off-site meeting, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, announced the need to change the contractor responsible for the construction of the bridge on Jibek Jolu Avenue. This decision was made today as the mayor inspected the status of several key infrastructure projects in the capital.
Municipal representatives reported that defects were found in the fencing during construction, which served as grounds for terminating the contract with the current contractor. The mayor also ordered a review of the legality of the installation of facilities along the riverbed.
It is planned that the new bridge will be six lanes wide and will include parking areas, including for taxis.
