Car owners complain that they are being charged for parking at a rate that exceeds the officially established tariff.
The footage shows drivers claiming that the receipts indicate a sum of 50 soms, while in fact, the parking attendants demand 100 soms for each car.
“The receipt says ‘50 soms,’ but you are charging 100,” says one of the dissatisfied drivers, showing his receipt.
In response, a parking attendant stated that for all-day parking, one must pay exactly 100 soms. This sparked a conflict between the drivers and the parking staff.
The mayor of Kara-Suu, Islam Ermamotov, commented on the situation, noting that the parking spaces had been leased to the local market.
“We aimed to bring order and reduce traffic jams. The market workers themselves requested to lease these areas, promising to organize a more orderly parking system. Therefore, we agreed to this,” he explained.
The assistant director of the “Turataly” market, Mirlan Samiev, added that the official price for parking is 50 soms.
He also noted that the videos on social media showed that some workers, acting as individual entrepreneurs, are charging 100 soms.
“The cost of parking is 50 soms. We only learned today from these videos that some are charging 100. We have already contacted the police, and an investigation is underway,” said Samiev.
- The Kara-Suu district is home to one of the largest markets in Kyrgyzstan, where thousands of traders operate. The local budget of Kara-Suu receives about 300,000 soms monthly from parking rentals.
