Social media users have noticed that at the bird market in the city of Osh, the process of slaughtering and processing poultry takes place in extremely dirty conditions, surrounded by garbage.
In one of the published videos, it can be seen how chickens and turkeys are slaughtered and processed right in front of a waste dump, and burning clothing is used to start the fire, which negatively impacts the environment.
Sanjarbek Ergeshev, head of the veterinary and phytosanitary service for Osh and the Osh region, reported that the relevant authorities have already begun explanatory activities and are also working on cleaning up the area.
“Explanatory notes have been received, and an act has been drawn up,” he noted.
Asanbek Mamaraimov, head of the Osh regional department of the State Inspection for Environmental and Technical Safety, added that warnings had previously been issued to the workers at the bird market.
“Some individuals working here have been given warnings, and three citizens have been fined a total of 30,000 soms. Official letters have been sent to the city hall demanding either to ensure proper conditions for slaughtering birds on-site or to move the process to another location. Over the past two days, our employees, together with the municipal inspection, have been working on this issue. The owner of the site has also been identified, and a fine will be imposed,” Mamaraimov reported.
