In Tokmok, located in the Chui region, plans are underway to relocate the livestock market to a new site, while modern multifunctional facilities are expected to be constructed at its current location. This was announced by the city's mayor, Altynbek Ergeshov, during a conversation with sellers at the market.

The Tokmok livestock market is one of the largest in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan, serving as an important trading platform for the exchange of livestock, including cows, sheep, horses, and bulls.

According to Ergeshov, the existing market does not meet the necessary sanitary, veterinary, and urban planning standards. Its proximity to the highway and residential areas poses safety and health risks for local residents.

The mayor stated that the new market will be located near the current site but further away from the road and residential houses, which will ensure greater safety and comfort for both sellers and buyers.

Ergeshov also emphasized that the area occupied by the current livestock market has significant potential for further development of the city. In the future, there are plans to attract investors, including foreign ones, to implement various projects in this area.

The project includes the construction of new multifunctional buildings, as well as the creation of a business hub focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative industries.

According to local authorities, all necessary conditions will be created for the new livestock market, including modern infrastructure and compliance with all sanitary and veterinary standards, making it safe and convenient for all participants.

Representatives of the Chui District State Administration reported that the new livestock market will be built in the eastern part of the village of Vinogradnoe. However, precise data on the area of the site and the timeline for the start of construction have not yet been announced, as the project is still in the planning stage. Full information will be available after all necessary procedures are completed.

Livestock traders expressed the opinion that the old market had one significant advantage — its convenient location next to food and informal markets, where purchases could be made simultaneously. "If the new market is close to the road and the conditions are normal, we will get used to the new place, but the convenience of the old market was considerable," they noted.

Turmush previously reported that the private livestock market in Tokmok is planned to be closed from January 1, 2026. During an inspection, it was found that the market operated on a commercial basis, charging fees for the placement of livestock.

However, the owners did not provide the necessary investments for the development of sanitary and veterinary infrastructure.

The closure of the market has been initiated due to systematic violations of sanitary and veterinary standards, as well as non-compliance with safety requirements.

Despite repeated warnings, the owners did not take measures to rectify the violations.

Trading livestock in this area will be discontinued. Farmers and sellers are advised to turn to other functioning markets in the region, as well as to use online platforms for selling livestock.
