The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan (MVD) has extended the period during which drivers can obtain a license for passenger transportation in cars until July 1, 2026. This was reported by the press service of the ministry.
Taxi licensing began on September 12, 2025. Initially, drivers were required to obtain a permit by February 1, 2026, according to the cabinet of ministers' resolution dated December 3, 2025.
The MVD emphasizes that drivers have been repeatedly reminded of the importance of timely obtaining a license. However, as of December 2025, the number of issued permits remained low.
Currently, MVD units are working in an intensified mode on licensing throughout the country.
To date, more than 8,000 individuals and about 300 legal entities have already received licenses.
In response to citizens' appeals, the MVD decided to extend the licensing period until July 1, 2026.
Licenses are issued in all units of the Main Department for Ensuring Road Safety of the MVD of the Kyrgyz Republic.
