The Prosecutor General's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed concern about the possible change in its constitutional status

The agency opposes the abolition of epaulettes and ranks for civilian prosecutors

At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan expressed dissatisfaction with proposals to abandon epaulettes and military ranks for civilian prosecutors.

Two draft laws were discussed: the first proposes changes related to the transition to a system of class ranks, while the second plans a general reduction of special ranks in civilian state bodies, such as the Tax and Customs Services, retaining them only in law enforcement agencies.

Deputy Prosecutor General Umutkan Konkubaeva noted that the proposed changes could negatively affect the constitutional status of the Prosecutor's Office as an independent body, which would lead to a weakening of prosecutorial oversight and a decrease in effectiveness in the fight against crime.
