Secret voting has started in the parliament
The only candidate for the position of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh is Marlen Mamataliyev. Currently, secret voting is taking place in parliament regarding his candidacy.
This morning, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his decision to resign from the position of Speaker voluntarily, confirming that this decision was made without any pressure.
After that, the deputies decided to begin the procedure for electing a new Speaker and announced a break for consultations so that the parliamentary groups could propose their candidates. However, none of the five parliamentary groups — "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," "Ala-Too," "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," and "Eldik" — proposed their candidates.
It is worth noting that rumors about the possible appointment of Marlen Mamataliyev as Speaker began to spread even before the announcement of Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu's resignation.
