Marlen Mamataliyev elected speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh

77 deputies voted for his candidacy, five opposed

Today, at a meeting of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marlen Mamataliyev was elected the new speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh. The decision was made following a secret ballot, in which 77 deputies supported his candidacy, while 5 voted against.

Mamataliyev was the only candidate for the position of speaker. Earlier, groups of deputies from "Adilet Kyrgyzstan," "Ala-Too," "Ata-Jurt," "Mekenchil," and "Eldik" decided to take a break for discussions, but none of them proposed alternative candidates.

This morning, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his intention to resign from the position of speaker voluntarily, stating that this decision was made without any pressure. Following his announcement, the deputies began the process of selecting a new speaker.

It is worth noting that rumors about the possible appointment of Marlen Mamataliyev as speaker began circulating even before it became known about Turgunbek uulu's decision to leave his post.
