Sergey Vakunov, the Russian ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, shared information about the future of the "Kant" airbase.
He noted that there is no need to expand this airbase.
The diplomat stated: "According to expert assessments, the current operational parameters of the airbase are quite adequate to ensure the security of the CIS member states from the southern direction."
The airbase was established in Kyrgyzstan in 2001 in response to a request from the country's authorities related to threats of international terrorism.
