For a period of six months, a ban is being introduced on the export from Kyrgyzstan of used catalytic converters, as well as slags and ashes containing precious metals. The corresponding decision was signed by Adylbek Kasymaliev, as reported by the government press service.

This step is aimed at protecting the health of people and the environment, as well as reducing air pollution from vehicle emissions.

Catalytic converters are among the most valuable components of a vehicle's exhaust system, with their cost reaching up to 13% of the total price of the vehicle. As a result, there has been an increase in cases of illegal removal or theft of catalytic converters for subsequent resale.
